IV — The Formulation Philosophy

From earth.
Refined by science.

We don't formulate around ingredient trends. We formulate around the ritual.

Good skincare isn't about fitting the greatest number of actives into a bottle. It is about understanding what the skin needs, choosing ingredients with a clear purpose, and placing each one where it makes the most sense. TERRAIVA begins with earth-derived minerals and pairs them with carefully selected modern skincare actives. The result is not five products competing to do the same thing. It is five complementary formulas, each with a defined role inside one considered ritual.

The TERRAIVA Principle

Right ingredient. Right product.
Right purpose. Right frequency.

01 — The Earth

The clays behind TERRAIVA.

Clay is where the TERRAIVA story begins. But "clay" is not a single ingredient. Different mineral clays have different compositions, textures and formulation characteristics. Rather than treating them as interchangeable, TERRAIVA selects and combines clays according to the role of each formula.

01 — Clay

Rhassoul

Origin · Morocco

Also known as Ghassoul

An ancient mineral clay with roots in Morocco. Rhassoul — also known as Ghassoul — is traditionally associated with Morocco and has been used in cleansing rituals for centuries. Its distinctive mineral character gives it an identity separate from the other clays within the TERRAIVA system. For TERRAIVA, Rhassoul is not the everyday clay. It is the signature clay of the weekly Reset ritual.

Role

  • Mineral cleansing
  • Oil absorption
  • Signature weekly clay ritual
  • Mineral and sensory character

Used in

  • Multi-Clay Reset Mask

02 — Clay

Kaolin

The Everyday Clay

Kaolin is a naturally occurring mineral clay valued in cosmetic formulation for its absorbent character and versatility. For TERRAIVA, Kaolin acts as the everyday foundation of the clay system. It can support the removal of excess surface oil and impurities while fitting into formulations designed around regular skincare rather than aggressive treatment. That versatility gives Kaolin two different responsibilities within the Elite Kit: a restrained role in daily cleansing, and a more substantial role within the weekly Reset ritual.

Role

  • Absorbent mineral
  • Supports surface oil management
  • Adds mineral character and body
  • Connects the daily and weekly clay architecture

Used in

  • Clay Gel Cleanser
  • Multi-Clay Reset Mask

03 — Clay

Bentonite

The Structural Clay

Bentonite is a naturally occurring clay material valued for its interaction with water, swelling behaviour and absorbent properties. Those characteristics make it particularly suited to a dedicated clay mask, where the formulation can take advantage of its physical character without placing it into every daily step. Within TERRAIVA, Bentonite belongs to Reset.

Role

  • Absorbency
  • Swelling
  • Mask structure
  • Supports the deeper weekly clay experience

Used in

  • Multi-Clay Reset Mask

04 — Clay

Fuller's Earth

A Supporting Cleansing Clay

Fuller's Earth represents another part of TERRAIVA's mineral vocabulary. Within the Elite Kit it has a deliberately limited role: supporting the Clay Gel Cleanser rather than appearing throughout the ritual. This is intentional. A clay does not belong in a formula simply because TERRAIVA is a clay-led brand. It belongs only when it contributes meaningfully to that product's purpose.

Role

  • Supporting cleansing clay
  • Surface oil and impurity management
  • Complements Kaolin within the cleanser

Used in

  • Clay Gel Cleanser only

The Clay Architecture

Not one clay. A clay system.

Daily

Clay Gel Cleanser

Kaolin + Fuller's Earth

Weekly

Multi-Clay Reset Mask

Rhassoul + Kaolin + Bentonite

We don't repeat the same clay blend across the range. The cleanser uses a restrained clay system for daily cleansing. The Reset Mask uses a more substantial three-clay architecture for the weekly ritual. Different purpose. Different combination. Same philosophy.

02 — The Science

Actives with a reason to be there.

Earth gives TERRAIVA its foundation. Modern cosmetic science gives each formula precision. Rather than spreading fashionable actives across every product, we concentrate them where their format, contact time and role within the ritual make sense.

01

Niacinamide

Balance + Barrier + Tone

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 and one of the central multifunctional actives within the TERRAIVA ritual. We use it primarily in leave-on care, where it can support the appearance of more balanced, even-looking and resilient skin. Rather than adding high levels of Niacinamide to every TERRAIVA product, we concentrate its role where prolonged skin contact makes more formulation sense.

  • — Supports skin barrier
  • — Helps improve the appearance of uneven tone
  • — Supports balanced-looking skin
  • — Complements the broader radiance and hydration system

Mainly found in · Multi-Active Radiance Serum

02

Rice Ferment

Condition + Hydrate

Rice-derived skincare has a long cosmetic history. TERRAIVA uses Rice Ferment as part of the Radiance Serum's conditioning and hydration architecture, pairing an ingredient associated with traditional beauty rituals with modern formulation science.

  • — Skin conditioning
  • — Hydration support
  • — Supports the serum's radiance-focused ingredient architecture

Found in · Multi-Active Radiance Serum

03

Kojic Derivative

Radiance + Even-Looking Tone

Kojic-derived ingredients are used in cosmetic brightening systems designed to support the appearance of a more even-looking complexion. For TERRAIVA, the objective is not to turn the serum into an aggressive pigmentation treatment. The kojic component forms one part of a broader radiance system alongside Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin, Rice Ferment and hydration-supporting ingredients.

Found in · Multi-Active Radiance Serum

04

Alpha Arbutin

Even-Looking Tone

Alpha Arbutin is included within the Radiance Serum's tone-support architecture. Instead of repeating it across cleansers and masks where contact time is limited, TERRAIVA places it in the leave-on Care step.

  • — Supports brighter-looking skin
  • — Supports a more even-looking complexion
  • — Complements the kojic and niacinamide system

Found in · Multi-Active Radiance Serum

05

Hyaluronic Acid

Hydrate

Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant used within skincare formulations to support hydration. Within TERRAIVA, hydration isn't treated as something relevant only to traditionally dry skin. Balanced skincare still needs water. That is why hydration forms part of the core daily Care philosophy rather than requiring another separate serum.

Found in · Multi-Active Radiance Serum

06

Ceramides

Barrier

Ceramides are lipid components associated with the skin barrier. Within the TERRAIVA system, ceramide technology is considered as part of the barrier-support strategy rather than as another headline treatment active. The objective is simple: cleanse without unnecessarily stripping, care without overwhelming, and support the barrier throughout the ritual.

Final placement subject to manufacturer validation.

07

Panthenol

Comfort + Condition

Panthenol, or provitamin B5, is used as a conditioning and comfort-support ingredient. Its role is not to dominate the formula. It helps create balance around cleansing minerals and more targeted actives.

08

Centella Asiatica

Soothe + Support

Centella Asiatica is a botanical ingredient widely used in modern skincare formulations for its skin-conditioning and soothing role. Within TERRAIVA it serves as supporting care around more functional ingredients rather than being treated as a miracle ingredient.

Potential placement · Radiance Serum · Multi-Clay Reset Mask · Targeted Blemish Corrector

09

Salicylic Acid

Pore Care

Salicylic Acid is a beta-hydroxy acid commonly used in cosmetic formulations designed for congested and blemish-prone skin. TERRAIVA uses it selectively rather than turning every step into an exfoliating treatment. A restrained role belongs in daily cleansing. More targeted use belongs within Correct.

  • — Daily · Restrained pore-support role in the Clay Gel Cleanser
  • — As needed · Targeted role within the Blemish Corrector

10

Azelaic System

Targeted Care

An azelaic-based system is being developed specifically for TERRAIVA's Correct step. Unlike the Radiance Serum, this product is not intended to become another full-face layer everyone must use every day. It exists for localized, as-needed care.

Found in · Targeted Blemish Corrector. Exact form and concentration remain subject to manufacturer validation.

11

Zinc PCA

Balance

Zinc PCA combines zinc with PCA and is commonly used in cosmetic formulations designed around oil balance and blemish-prone skin. Within TERRAIVA it belongs primarily to targeted care rather than being repeated throughout the routine.

Found in · Targeted Blemish Corrector, subject to final formulation.

The Hydration Network

Glycerin·Betaine·Sodium PCA·Allantoin

Not every important ingredient
needs to be a hero ingredient.

Behind the headline actives sits another layer of formulation. Humectants and supporting ingredients help create the hydration, comfort and sensory environment surrounding TERRAIVA's hero ingredients. Their job is less visible but essential: help formulas remain balanced, comfortable and suitable for consistent use. Because formulation is not simply a list of actives. It is how those ingredients are made to work together as a usable product.

03 — The Restraint

More ingredients doesn't always mean
better skincare.

A cleanser is washed away. A serum stays on the skin. A mask is used weekly. A spot corrector is applied only where needed. So why should they all contain the same actives at the same intensity?

At TERRAIVA, contact time, frequency and purpose influence where an ingredient belongs. Radiance-focused actives are concentrated in the leave-on Care step. Clay is concentrated where mineral cleansing makes sense. Targeted pore and blemish support is reserved for Correct. Hydration and barrier support are considered around the entire ritual.

This is formulation by purpose — not formulation by trend.

We don't ask every product to do everything.

04 — The Formulas

Five formulas. Five responsibilities.

01 — Cleanse

Clay Gel Cleanser

Remove excess oil, sunscreen, buildup and daily impurities while preparing the skin for the rest of the ritual.

Earth

Kaolin · Fuller's Earth

Science

Low-dose Salicylic Acid

Support

Glycerin · Panthenol · Allantoin · Aloe · Gentle surfactant system

Philosophy

Cleansing first. Pore support second. Never an overloaded treatment cleanser.

02 — Care

Multi-Active Radiance Serum

The central leave-on step of the Elite Kit — bringing hydration, radiance, tone support and skin balance into one daily formula.

Earth

Rice Ferment (ritual heritage)

Science

Niacinamide · Kojic derivative · Alpha Arbutin · Hyaluronic Acid

Support

Panthenol · Centella · Balanced humectant/barrier system

Philosophy

This is where the majority of full-face leave-on actives belong. Instead of requiring a separate niacinamide serum, brightening serum, hydrating serum and barrier serum, TERRAIVA brings complementary functions into one considered Care step.

03 — Protect

Daily Moisturising SPF

Bring daily moisturisation and sun protection into one morning step.

Science

Professionally developed broad-spectrum UV filter system

Support

Hydration + barrier-support ingredients

Philosophy

The morning routine should become simpler, not longer. Specific SPF / PA rating will be published once validated finished-product testing is complete.

04 — Reset

Multi-Clay Reset Mask

A dedicated 1–2× weekly mineral ritual for deeper cleansing, oil absorption and reset.

Earth

Rhassoul · Kaolin · Bentonite

Support

Aloe · Glycerin · Panthenol · Centella

Philosophy

The mask does not need additional headline actives simply because they are popular. It is allowed to be excellent at one job: Reset. Signature clay architecture — Rhassoul + Kaolin + Bentonite. No Fuller's Earth.

05 — Correct

Targeted Blemish Corrector

Targeted support used only where the skin needs additional attention.

Science

Salicylic Acid · Azelaic system · Zinc PCA

Support

Panthenol · Centella

Philosophy

Correct is not another mandatory full-face treatment. It exists so the rest of the ritual doesn't have to become aggressive. Exact active concentrations and final format remain subject to production-formula validation.

05 — The System

The formula changes.
The philosophy doesn't.

Formulated individually.
Considered together.

Every TERRAIVA formula must work within its own role. But every formula is also considered in the context of what came before it and what comes after it. That means asking different questions:

  • Does the cleanser leave the skin comfortable enough for the serum?
  • Does the serum layer cleanly beneath the SPF?
  • Does the weekly mask add value without turning the ritual into constant exfoliation?
  • Can targeted blemish care remain targeted so the rest of the face isn't unnecessarily exposed to another intensive step?

This is what we mean by a system. Not products that depend on one another to function. Products designed with one another in mind.

Skincare is a practice,
not a product chase.

The skincare industry has taught consumers to keep adding. A new serum. A new active. A new treatment. A new step. TERRAIVA takes the opposite view.

A routine only becomes useful when it is simple enough to follow consistently. That is why the Elite Kit is built around three daily ideas:

Cleanse. Care. Protect.

And two intentional additions: Reset weekly. Correct when needed. Nothing more simply for the sake of more.

Closing Statement

Five formulas. One considered ritual.
Powered by earth. Backed by science.

06 — Origin Matters

Know the earth behind the formula.

Mineral ingredients begin long before they enter a formulation. Their geological origin, mineral composition, purification, particle characteristics and cosmetic grade all matter. For TERRAIVA, sourcing isn't about attaching an exotic location to an ingredient for marketing. It is about knowing what material is actually entering the formula.

The TERRAIVA Sourcing Standard

For every production clay, we internally document:

  • Supplier identity
  • Country / region of origin
  • Cosmetic-grade specification
  • Mineral identity / composition
  • Certificate of Analysis
  • Microbiological specification
  • Heavy-metal specification
  • Particle-size specification where relevant
  • Contaminant / purity information
  • Batch traceability

TERRAIVA does not publicly claim that its production clay comes from a particular mine, region or country until actual supplier documentation confirms it. For Rhassoul, we may educate around its Moroccan heritage — while clearly distinguishing ingredient heritage from TERRAIVA verified sourcing.

TERRAIVA Ritual

Powered by Earth. Backed by Science.

TERRAIVA does not begin with:

"What ingredients can we put in this product?"

TERRAIVA begins with:

"What role does this step need to perform within the ritual?"

Then we select the earth-derived ingredients and modern actives that belong there.
